The sanctuary that stands now is a granite barque built by Philip Arrhidaeus to replace the one built by the Conqueror, Tehutimses III. If we walk around the temple, we find Amun and Amunet, twin statues dedicated by Tutankhamun and believed to have been sculpted with the young king's face. The surrounding rooms include a chapel consecrated to Sokar and the "Botanical Garden" or "Zoological Garden", so called because its walls are lined with superbly delicate carvings of exotic plant and animal life that the Conqueror encountered during his Syrian campaigns.
